Google Pixel Fold Set to Launch Next Week | Unleash Your Excitement

Google Pixel Fold: At Last, it is on the way.

It has been rumored for a while that Google’s upcoming Pixel phone may feature a foldable screen, which would put it in direct competition with Samsung’s Galaxy Fold series. This would be a first for the Pixel line, and it’s not surprising given Google’s recent emphasis on hardware.

Multiple companies are rumored to be working on foldable phones, including Google and Apple. While Apple’s foldable phone may not be released until 2025, Samsung is already on its fourth generation of foldable phones with the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 launched in August. Chinese phone makers like Huawei and Oppo are also in the foldable game, with recent releases including the Mate X3 and Find N2 Flip.

Google Pixel Fold Launch Time: May 2023

Despite remaining tight-lipped about the existence of a foldable phone, it appears that Google is finally ready to reveal its much-anticipated Pixel Fold at the annual Google I/O event on May 10th. A recent report from 9to5Google suggests that the company’s first-ever foldable device has passed the certification process with the Federal Communications Commission, which is typically a sign that a smartphone launch is imminent. Previous reports from 9to5Google and WinFuture have suggested that the Pixel Fold may be available for purchase as early as June.

Google’s Android 12L software, which is tailored for large-screen devices like tablets and foldable phones, features animations that may provide clues about the design of the Pixel Fold. These animations suggest that Google’s foldable device will have a book-style form factor with dual screens.

Initial rumors suggested that the Google Pixel Fold would have a similar tall and narrow design to Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 3, which has an aspect ratio of approximately 22.5:18. However, reports from 9to5Google and other media outlets suggest that the Pixel Fold’s open form is more likely to resemble the squarish shape of Oppo’s Find N foldable phone. When closed, the Pixel Fold is expected to have an aspect ratio closer to 18:9.

If the Pixel Fold’s open form is indeed similar to that of Oppo’s Find N, it could be more comfortable to use as a regular phone when closed. Previous reports, including one from HowISolve in December and a more recent one from CNBC in April, suggest that the cover display of the Pixel Fold will measure 5.79 inches, while the internal display will measure 7.69 inches.. These reports also indicate that the device will be pocket-sized and water-resistant.

Google Pixel Fold: Just in Two Colors

In November, Front Page Tech released renders based on images of the Google Pixel Fold. These renders showcased two color options: obsidian (black) and chalk (white). However, more recent reports suggest that the device may be available in “carbon,” which is likely a shade of gray or black, as well as “porcelain.”

Although there haven’t been many rumors regarding the camera on the Google Pixel Fold, 9to5Google has provided some speculation. According to the website, the device is likely to feature two front-facing 8-megapixel lenses, one on the cover and one for the interior, as well as a 12-megapixel rear camera. However, it is expected that the main sensor will be a step down from the Pixel 6 series. Reports suggest that the Pixel Fold’s camera will utilize Sony’s IMX363 sensor, which was first introduced in the Pixel 3 back in 2018, rather than Samsung’s top-of-the-line GN1 sensor, which is featured in the main 50-megapixel camera of the Pixel 6 series.

The actual price of a phone can only be determined on its launch day, and there’s no guarantee that the phone will even be released. However, according to an anonymous source cited by 9to5Google, the Pixel Fold is expected to be priced below $1,800 (£1,320 or AU$2,500). This notion seems to be supported by a report from March, which suggests that the phone could be priced as low as $1,399, making it cheaper than Samsung’s $1,800 Galaxy Z Fold 4. These rumors align with Google’s strategy of undercutting competitors in terms of pricing.

Google Pixel Fold Process: Tensor

It’s highly likely that the Pixel Fold will be powered by the Tensor chipset, which was developed by Google at great expense and effort, and first introduced with the Pixel 6 lineup.
