Bangladesh Parliament dissolved to form an interim government
The President of Bangladesh, Muhammad Shahabuddin, has dissolved the Parliament to form an interim government.
The Bangladeshi media quoted a press release as saying that the president dissolved the parliament after meeting with the chiefs of the armed forces, various political parties, representatives of civil society, and the student union ‘Students Against Discrimination.’
It was further said that Bangladesh National Party Chairperson Khaleda Zia has been released.
It was also said that the process of releasing people arrested in the student movement from July 1 to August 5 has started, and many people have been released.
Earlier, the student movement, which organized protests against Sheikh Hasina in Bangladesh, said that they would press for the formation of an interim government headed by Nobel laureate Muhammad Younis.
According to the French news agency AFP, the leader of the student movement, Naheed Islam, said in a video message, “We have decided that an interim government will be established in which international fame and Nobel laureate Dr. Muhammad Yunus will be the chief advisor.”
It is expected that Bangladeshi Army Chief Waqar-ul-Zaman will meet the student leaders on Tuesday.

Asif Mehmood, the leader of the organization ‘Student Against Discrimination’ (SAD), which led the student protests, wrote on Facebook that “We trust Dr. Younis.”
Dr. Younis is currently based in Europe and a close associate of his said on Monday that he has not received any offer from the military to lead the interim government.
Earlier on Monday, Naheed Islam said that he will present the features of the new interim government within the next 24 hours.
Addressing a press conference with other student leaders in Dhaka, he said, “I dedicate this victory to the students who lost their lives during this movement.”
We protestors are united against the fascist regime. There is no religious or other factionalism between us.
It should be remembered that Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina resigned and left the country on Monday, while Army Chief Waqar-ul-Zaman has said that an interim government will be established.
The Army Chief while holding a press conference said that the Prime Minister has resigned, we will form an interim government.
